22ND
EXPEDITIONARY
FLEET
United Empire of Earth Navy
FLEET OVERVIEW
The 22nd Expeditionary Fleet is a self-sustaining fleet capable of providing its own combat service support and logistics. Comprising fast, hard-hitting destroyers and heavy lift logistics assets, the Fleet operates as a mobile, balanced expeditionary force that can scout, strike, and sustain itself well beyond established supply lines.
"Carry the Fleet, Bite when Needed." The 22nd's culture embraces duality: logistics officers trained to think offensively, and destroyer crews versed in sustainment realities. DESRON-38 and LOGRON-88 aren't just adjacent units—they're complementary halves of a doctrine that treats every bolt, crate, and missile as part of one continuous fight.
DESRON-38
Destroyer Squadron 38 provides the Fleet's "teeth": fast, hard-hitting multi-role destroyers tasked with screens, raids, and precision strikes.
Primary Role: Combat Operations
Capabilities: Multi-role destroyers, rapid response, precision strikes
LOGRON-88
Logistics Squadron 88 delivers the "muscle behind the punch": heavy lift, salvage, and replenishment assets capable of turning battlefield wreckage into renewed combat power.
Primary Role: Logistics & Sustainment
Capabilities: Heavy lift, salvage operations, forward resupply nodes
FLEET HISTORY
Born from a patchwork of forward-deployed elements on the Xi'an frontier, the 22nd Expeditionary Fleet was formally stood up in 2923 to give the Navy a mobile, self-sustaining force package that could scout, strike, and sustain itself well beyond established supply lines. Its mission profile blended rapid-response combat power with deep logistics reach—an unusual pairing that became the Fleet's hallmark.
When pirate syndicates began interdicting merchant lanes near the Baker–Goss corridor, the 22nd was dispatched as an "expeditionary trial."
- DESRON-38 executed a 72-hour rolling ambush that shattered three pirate flotillas without losing a single hull.
- LOGRON-88 simultaneously established a forward fuel-and-ordnance node out of a derelict cargo platform, cutting resupply times from days to hours and proving the Fleet could live off what it reclaimed.
Following the Vega II attacks, the 22nd was reassigned to stabilize supply lines and evacuate civilians.
- LOGRON-88 ran continuous ATLS-assisted (Assisted Transport & Loading System) shuttle chains, moving over 200,000 tonnes of aid materials in eight weeks.
- DESRON-38 provided layered defense for relief convoys, neutralizing opportunistic raiders without disrupting humanitarian timelines.
Today, the 22nd Expeditionary Fleet is regarded as the model for "balanced expeditionary doctrine"—lean, agile combatants married to a logistics arm that does more than just refuel. The Fleet continues to operate as a self-sustaining expeditionary force, ready for rapid deployment across the 'Verse to a wide array of missions, from combat operations to humanitarian assistance.
